Back-to-Back Conference Sessions at SPORTEL Monaco: Crossover trends, disruptive sports media, groundbreaking tech

An engaging new series of SPORTEL Masterclasses at SPORTEL Monaco’s 2021 October event, will dive into parallel ecosystems emerging at SPORTEL such as esports and sportstech, to provide thought-provoking discussions led by influential sports business executives shaping the industry of the future. Attendees will gain vital insights to evaluate and help make informed decisions when evolving their business strategies which can unlock new partnerships and potential new revenue streams to drive business forward.

The upgraded conference format, will be complemented by innovative presentations and expert panels, held in the new open space ‘Speakers Corner’ at the heart of the exhibition floor. The easy access venue will welcome all participants to drop in for sessions in between their busy meeting agendas.

Esports in the spotlight

The programme kicks off on day one with a number of sessions dedicated to esports, a sector which has been growing rapidly at SPORTEL over the last few years. Hear how a national LoL league (LFL) has become in two years, the most followed European esport league, through the insights of the stakeholders including publisher Riot Games’s Guillaume Rambourg, plus production and LFL league management partner, Webedia’s Bertrand Amar, following the grand final in Monaco as part of the SPORTEL Awards. Next up, in collaboration with the leading esports business focused platform, Esports Insider, two sessions will highlight how esports and traditional sports crossovers if done well, are opening up new opportunities for partnerships, audiences and data usage, as the lines blur between tradition and innovation. Panelists include a mix of the SPORTEL community such as Infront’s André Fläckel, David Lampitt at Sportradar, Carlo Brocca at Nielsen Sports and Blast’s Alexander Lewin alongside newer SPORTEL players, including Esports Charts, Swipe Right PR and GRID Esports.

Moving on, an end of morning debate will look at how female leaders and audiences are shifting the perception of sports media. Both female and male perspectives and how their organizations are addressing this timely topic will be represented, with Eleven’s Anouk Mertens and Eurovision Sports, Glen Killane and Marisa Reich from She Sports Switzerland leading the discussion.

Next up on the agenda, Telstra’s Anna Lockwood will be in conversation with Stephen Nuttall to bring the audience unique insight and illustrate how the 36th America’s Cup, was the most watched America’s Cup in history!

Rounding off day one, will address how digital media and OTT continue to revolutionize and dominate the broadcast industry, and why the pandemic accelerated innovation. Join digital leader Deltatre’s Romain Rossi and Sportall’s Thierry Boudard with innovators, Cleeng and Toch.ai, who will discuss how technology and creativity are enabling new experiences which attract new audiences and how this also plays a part in media rights strategies.

Piracy, an age-old problem

Day two will open with two presentations around combating piracy. First up are the Law Offices of Thomas P Riley PC who offer a ‘partnering’ approach to an incurable problem from a legal view point and then from Synamedia, who will showcase how their technology can help to tackle piracy to get a clear ROI.

Following sessions include MassiveMusic, to highlight how global sports brands are strategically driving brand salience and increasing profits through sound and music. Then, Sportall alongside partner Fight Nation, will illustrate how to start a premium live sport multi-screen media in just a few weeks with their live streaming platform 100% dedicated to fighting sports.

Better, Faster, Stronger

The CLV Group will showcase how sports organisations however big or small, can think like Nike and act like Amazon, to win fan lifetime value through a fan-centric approach. Plus, join the conversation with Dreamwall on how AR and AI help grow unexpected revenues for sports events through virtual advertising and enhancing power of editorial content.

To close the programme and always a highlight of SPORTEL, the legendary LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, will share with the audience the latest visionary and tech innovations from the Spanish football league driving the industry to new heights.
